back to life (part 2)

okay, the second assignment was to write a 12-15 page paper on curriculum. i'd like to say something about the teacher of this class, who was also the department head: she didn't teach the class. i don't mean that she didn't teach well, or that she let the students teach the class. i mean that she had grad. assistants teach the class. i don't like that, but who am i? there were like 75 people in the class, and we would break up into groups and go with a grad. assistant for 'learnin'. the 'teacher' of the class would come around for our book databases, and she would grade them as described in the previous post. then she would go away for a while.

the real annoying thing was that this was a 5 day class, mtwtf, 9-3, and we had to have the book database done prior to starting the class, and we had to have a rough draft of our paper done prior to the starting of the class. why go to class?? the only time we learned anything new (that we hadn't already written in our paper) was when kathryn mitchell pierce, an author/researcher/teacher came for a two day presentation. why didn't we just go to class those two days? ridiculous.

that really bothers me about these classes, cuz the teachers say things like: "Do the reading, or you'll be lost in class and you won't know what we're talking about." and then we get to class, and they basically summarize the reading for us. so then you're just bored and angry cuz you could have just stayed home instead of getting a report from these teachers about what you've already read.
